Video Poker is a popular game that can be wagered on in casinos throughout the world, or in your house on your computer, using a net account. The rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to get the greatest assemblage of cards possible in order to come away with cash. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, apart from the involvement with any other players. After the enthusiast has decided on which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, at which point any fresh cards are handed out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payment schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can range from machine to machine, so that discerning bettors are agile enough to select the most profitable game each time.
Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to stay on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that has been won. Additionally, some styles of the game allow the player an opportunity to increase their wins, in which case another hand is played. There are also variations between specific machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying aspects to enhance playability.
