Video Poker is a popular game that usually will be bet on in casinos all over the globe, or in your house on your personal computer, using an Internet connection. The rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to achieve the highest assemblage of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it’s very similar as a regular game of poker, without the involvement with any other players. The game of Electronic Poker begins when the bettor puts credits (whether it’s tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the draw button. A hand of five cards will then be "distributed" on the video screen.

The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ written on them, and bettors will need to now decide which cards to hold and which to throw away. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it is all or none.

After the bettor has chosen which cards he wishes to keep, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards will be handed out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.

Normally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money getting larger for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the pay out schedule can range from game to game, so that skillful enthusiasts are able to select the most profitable ones each time.

Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to maximize their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any cash that they may have won. Additionally, several versions of the game give the gambler a chance to increase their profits, in which case a further round is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
