How to Play Electronic Poker
Video Poker is a favored game that can be played in casinos around the globe, or alternatively at home on your PC, through a net connection. The rules are absolutely simple and involve the player trying to get the highest combination of cards possible in order to come away with money. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, apart from the line of contact with competing players. Of course, methods employed during a physical game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will then be "distributed" on the video screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and gamblers should now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons need to be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, from all to none.
After the player has decided on which cards he or she wishes to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be needed they will be dealt. The round is now finished, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Normally, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each and every better hand. A common list of winning hands begins with jacks or better, and moves on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the pay out schedule can change from machine to machine, so that skillful players are able to choose the most money-making game every time.
After the initial round has played out, the player can either choose to continue on and try to to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any money that they may have won. Further, some styles of the game allow the player a chance to double their profits, in which instance a further game is played. There are also differences between individual games, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
